ROSE HIPS

Rose hips are the fruit that grow along with roses on and contain the rose seeds. They have a variety of health benefits to include 60 times more Vitamin C than an orange! Most people know that Vitamin C keeps your immune system strong, but did you know it also boosts collagen production to keep you looking and feeling young? There is also evidence that it helps reduce inflammation and regular use can help lower cholesterol levels, blood sugar and blood pressure. ROSE HIP TEA

An easy way to receive the health benefits of rose hips is to drink rose hip tea. If you are fortunate enough to have rose bushes, the rose hips can be harvested in the early summer months and then dried for later use. Otherwise, you can usually purchase dried rose hips at health food stores.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp dried rose hips

  • 16oz hot water

To make the tea, fill a tea ball with 1 teaspoon of dried rose hips and place in a 16 ounce mug or mason jar. Pour boiling water over the rose hips and let steep for 5 minutes. If you like, you can sweeten the tea with a little honey or agave.
